Wushu Tambah Pundi Emas DKI Jakarta di POPNAS 2025 #Popnas2025

Jakarta Wushu Grabs Gold at POPNAS 2025

Jakarta contingents have once again added to their gold medal tally at the National Student Sports Week (POPNAS) XVII 2025.

Two have been realized today

This time, the wushu athletes managed to win two gold medals and one bronze. This achievement further cements Jakarta as one of the strongest contingents in the inter-provincial competition.

The gold medals were awarded to Asael Christo Jacob Rondonuwu in the Men's Chang Quan event and Billie Karina The in the Women's Chang Quan event. Then, Abbas Abdullah Lutfi also contributed a medal by winning the bronze in the Men's Chang Quan event.

Jakarta Rhythmic Gymnastics Contributes Three Gold Medals

Jakarta Wushu contingent coach, Indra Kusuma, said that the wushu branch competes in a total of 22 events, but only participates in 19 of them. Out of those, Jakarta targets four gold medals.

"Thus far, only two have been realized today. I still owe two. The target was set based on the evaluation results from the National Championship in Surabaya in July 2025," he said at the sport hall of University of Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), Rawamangun, East Jakarta, Wednesday (11/5)

Nevertheless, Indra remains optimistic that the gold medal achievement can surpass the initial target. He has been conducting intensive training continuously at Ragunan PPOP with a morning and evening training schedule, including tryouts in several regions. Most of the wushu athletes competing in this year's POPNAS are debutants.

"From the national championship evaluation, we map out our strengths and finally set realistic targets. We are optimistic about winning gold again, possibly from the remaining events," he stated.
